Alert - PRIMGHAR, Iowa -- The O'Brien County sheriff's office is looking for the owner of two unusual four-legged creatures found wandering on a golf course in Primghar. Two hinnies, a cross between a stallion and a female donkey, were found about two weeks ago.
Deputy Dean Fjeld said officials corralled the pair and took them a city pasture. So far, no one has claimed them.
Fjeld said if the owners don't show up, there's a chance the animals could be auctioned.
Fjeld said it's possible the animals were abandoned because of tough financial times.

:I have had this mule 1-1/2yrs the first yr I rode her 42 wkends 5 to 8 hr in the mountains all over va and nc, she is a go all day type, sure footed, hills don't get too steep. Loads, stands for farrier, trims, stays in elec. fence gets along with others. I brought a gaited young mule in the spring and due to family matters (aging father) I will not have time to ride both enough. This is a great mule for a rider but if you are just a passenger you would not be comforable with her although she was ridden all summer by just passengers without incident. She is red, quarter type, easy keeper, not for a persons first mule or youth. but for experience rider she is a heck of a good mule. |

He is currently slightly under 12 ½ hands, but he should mature just under 14 hands. He will be sturdy to pack, ride or pull. He is an easy-keeper, and no injuries or illnesses thus far (knock on wood so I don’t jinx it!).
He is current on vaccinations, de-worming, hoof trims. Negative Coggins. He has already been gelded and wolf teeth extracted.
We have reduced his price (we have some medical expenses to pay), but he is worth much, much more!

We have bred him to a spotted walker cross and got a flashy four tall stocking gaiting out the first day baby, and to an appalousa and got a sorrel with wite spots appy mule. These are beautiful babys. 'Course we have more on the way. However, family circumstances have changed, and we need to not breed any more now. Has been to the Clinton chuckwagon races, good with kids, my sons, 12 and 15, rode him bareback around with a halter at Bar Fifty with no issues. He is good around kids and dogs, 4-wheelers, bicycles... Junior neckreins and lopes a handy circle, does rocks, hills, mud, water, no problems.
